Intramuscular stimulation

Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is a needling technique that inserts fine acupuncture needles into dysfunctional and tight muscles. These tight muscles can be caused by a neuropathy.  Neuropathy is described as a nerve that isn’t functioning properly but has a normal structure.  When the muscle is contracted or shortened, it can compress and irritate the nerves making them very sensitive.  IMS can cause the muscle to relax and can help reduce pressure on tender joints, muscles, and nerves. IMS has a great success rate even for chronic injuries.  Advanced training is required to perform this technique.
